The Midwest Crossroad Chorus will perform at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 29 at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood. The event is free and open the public.
Directed by Tori Hicks, the Midwest Crossroad Chorus is an extraordinary group of women singers who gather in celebration of the type of a cappella music known as barbershop harmony. It is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International that rehearses in Shorewood and welcomes women in the greater Joliet area who love to sing.
The Midwest Crossroad Chorus was the Region 3 Chorus Champion, receiving 1st place honors at the annual Regional Convention and Competition in May 2011. The chorus also competed on the International stage in Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale and Salt Lake City. In 1997 Midwest Crossroad received the International Harmony Achievement Award, an award given to the highest scoring small chorus in the contest.
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
