Team Timbers donates $14,500 to the Alzheimer’s Association on #GivingTuesday

Timbers donation to ALZ

The Timbers of Shorewood donated $14,500 to the Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association as part of #GivingTuesday. The money was raised during multiple events and fundraisers throughout the year.

“Our events and fundraising were the most successful in our history,” said Kevin Young, executive director of the Timbers of Shorewood. “In 2021 we donated $5,000, 2022 we were able to double it with $11,200, and this year we topped it with $14,500. Timbers staff and residents are very proud to provide ongoing support to the Alzheimer’s Association.”

Events and fundraisers that contributed to the donation:

  • Team Timbers Alzheimer’s Walk
  • Staff vs Resident Penny War
  • Timbers night at area restaurants (Lou Malnati’s, Raising Cane’s, Oberweis, and Chili’s)
  • Superbowl Squares
  • Bunco Night

A favorite event was the Staff vs Resident Penny War. One jar was for the residents, and the other was for the staff. Pennies and cash counted as points, while silver coins counted as negative points. The residents won by sabotaging the staff jar with silver coins and collecting more points. The grand total of both jars was more than $600.

To date, The Timbers of Shorewood has donated more than $50,500 to the Alzheimer’s Association.
