Seniors bring home the Gold at Senior Olympics in Shorewood

While athletes were in Paris competing for their country, residents of the Timbers of Shorewood competed at the “Senior Olympics.” Seniors competed in ten events consisting of beachball volleyball, disc shooting, basketball, Wii bowling, cycling, hockey, javelin throw, bean bags, axe throwing, and sharp shooting.

Five teams consisting of six Timbers residents competed against each other in various events over the course of a week.

“The residents loved the competition and have already requested that the Senior Olympics be an annual tradition,” said Amy Odell, activities director of the Timbers of Shorewood. “While we cheered on Team USA each day in the Paris Olympics, the entire Timbers community came out to encourage friends and favorite teams at our Senior Olympics.”

The Timbers’ Senior Olympics had an opening ceremony where the participants passed the torch and a closing ceremony where the competitors were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals. Residents extinguished the torch at the closing ceremony.
