AccordionIn response to the growing concern about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), leadership at the Timbers of Shorewood has made the decision to prohibit the public from all activities and events. Such events will take place but are limited to residents only. We look forward to welcoming the public into Timbers events and activities again very soon.

Rich Stanley will perform accordion favorites at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2020, in the Piano Lounge at the Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Road. Currently this event is limited to residents only.

Stanley started playing the accordion at age 10, and during high school, he played in wedding bands. He joined the Navy and played in the Navy Unit Band for four years as an accordionist.

Following the Navy, Stanley received a bachelor’s degree from Chicago State University and a master’s degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. He taught music in the Somonauk and Lockport School districts for a total of 34 years, retiring in 2006.

“At the present time I substitute in the Plainfield high schools and sing in the church choir,” he said.
