The Coal City High School Show Choir, “Footnotes,” will perform at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road.
The choir consists of school students ranging in grade level from freshman to senior. Approximately 100 students try out for the choir every year. The show choir performs at events all across Chicagoland ranging from The Lighting of Michigan Avenue Parade to the Palmer House Hilton.
The singing group formed in 1995 under the direction of Bonnie McDowell, a Coal City resident. McDowell is a teacher at the Coal City Middle School where she teaches vocal music to students in grades 6-8.
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents, whose needs may change, are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate care.
