The Sandi Haynes Quartet will lead a “Love Boat Cruise Party” at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road. The public is invited to enjoy a final day of summer, cruise-ship style. Attendees are encouraged to wear their most festive island clothing.
The night will kick off with the “Love Boat” theme song and a welcome from the cruise director. Islands jams and classics like “Margaritaville” will set a festive mood. In addition to live music, guests will learn dances like the meringue, the rumba and line dancing. Everyone can participate in group activities like the limbo or a group sing-off, and there will be a contest for best dressed.
“This really will be a true cruise ship experience,” Haynes said. “Everyone has such a blast, and there is something for everyone, regardless of their mobility.”
The Quartet is made up of Sandi Haynes, vocalist, flutist and cruise director; Jose Valdes, keyboard player; Bob Ferraris on the bass and vocals; and Steve Hawk on the drums.
Haynes started the quartet a decade ago, and her current band members have been performing with her for several years. The group can be found all over the Chicagoland area, as well as Indiana, Wisconsin and even Kentucky.
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents, whose needs may change, are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate care.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information call 815-609-0669.
