Michael J. Finn, a saxophone player and vocalist, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road.
With a repertoire of over 1,000 popular songs and more than 20 years of experience, Finn is known as the “saxophone player with the great voice.”
At the age of 10, Finn began taking sax lessons in 1965 and went on to teach himself guitar and piano in grade school. Shortly after, he started a group, “The Sound Reaction,” in which he was the lead singer.
His passion for music continued to develop through high school and college, and he eventually ended up playing the Playboy Club circuit and large hotel chains until 1980. As a professional disc jockey for Juliana’s Sound Service of New York and London, he traveled and worked at the finest hotels across the U.S.
In 1984, Finn returned to Chicago and once again began performing live. He has since shared the stage with many great musicians associated with rock, blues and jazz.
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents, whose needs may change, are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate care.
