For the third year in a row, The Timbers of Shorewood was voted the “Best Senior Living Community” in Will County in the Joliet Herald-News’ Readers’ Choice Awards.
Twenty-two staff members of the Timbers of Shorewood Senior Living have been employed for seven years or more. When you work with people for many years, camaraderie is evident, all of which creates an optimistic environment for residents.
While athletes were in Paris competing for their country, residents of the Timbers of Shorewood competed at the “Senior Olympics.” Seniors competed in ten events consisting of beachball volleyball, disc shooting, basketball, Wii bowling, cycling, hockey, javelin throw, bean bags, axe throwing, and sharp shooting.

The Timbers of Shorewood held a graduation ceremony for 19 residents who completed the Timbers’ Academy for Seniors 24-week course – “The Science of Natural Healing” on Monday, June 3, 2024. At the graduation, each resident received a certificate of achievement while the march, “Pomp and Circumstance” played.

The Timbers Caregiver Support Group takes place weekly at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. The group is free and open to anyone with a loved one with any dealing with a chronic illness such as cancer or dementia. The loved one does not need to be a Timbers’ resident.

Students from the University of St. Francis in Joliet prepared and executed an intergenerational painting and drawing project with seniors from The Timbers of Shorewood. The program the students planned had the residents using their creativity and had them sharing their favorite springtime memories while listening to their favorite oldies.
