In response to the growing concern about the Coronavirus (COVID-19), leadership at the Timbers of Shorewood has made the decision to prohibit the public from all activities and events. Such events will take place but are limited to residents only. We look forward to welcoming the public into Timbers events and activities again very soon.
Patrick Woods will play piano for residents and the public in the piano lounge at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood. Currently this event is limited to residents only.
Woods, a retired senior in Joliet, loves sharing his piano expertise with others. He has been playing for more than 50 years as avocation only. At the Timbers he will be playing Broadway tunes and music from the films of the 1950s.
“I really enjoy the residents,” Woods said. “Playing for them makes me feel good.”
Woods was very inspired by the late piano virtuoso Arthur Rubenstein. In fact, while in his 20s, Woods saw Rubenstein perform at Orchestra Hall at least ten times.
“They used to sell stage seats,” he said, “and I remember sitting in a semi-circle around Rubenstein. I loved the romantic way he played.”
The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides senior independent living and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Residents whose needs may change are able to stay in the same place and receive appropriate and compassionate care. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
Typically this event is open to the public and admission is free. Currently this event is limited to residents only. For more information, call 815-609-0669.
