The Twilight Troubadour (John Muhlenfeld)

John MuhlenfeldJohn Muhlenfeld will sing and play guitar for residents and the public at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd, Shorewood, IL.

Muhlenfeld has played guitar most of his life. This passion began 31 years ago when he lived on the north side of Chicago. It was a short walk to The Old Town School of Folk Music. He felt it was a good opportunity, so he signed up for lessons. The instructor taught him basic finger-picking moves to use with songs.

Muhlenfeld has a very good voice, so he sings as he plays the guitar – hence the “Twilight Troubadour.”

“My guitar allows me to travel into the audience as I sing,” he said. “A troubadour can get up close. I try to arrive 30 minutes before. I set up and tune my guitar and with the time remaining, I stroll the halls and play and sing to those that may not be able to come to the concert.”

Examples of his songs include Ain’t She Sweet, Let it Snow, Bill Bailey, Ol’ Man River, At the Hop, Always, Leaving on the Jet Plane, Walking in a Winter Wonderland, Ain’t that a Shame, Blue Moon, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and many more.
