The Timbers’ Chorus will perform at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, in the Piano Lounge at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road. The performance is free and open to the public.
Also performing are Karin and Jim Facko of Braidwood who are dueling their way through retirement – on a piano.
“We perform jazz numbers, country music and Broadway musicals,” said Karin. “I like performing musicals like ‘My Funny Valentine’ or ‘Oh What a Beautiful Morning.’ ”
While Karin has been performing since she was a child, her husband came onto the music scene much later with the urging of his wife. Jim plays piano and violin.
“It’s never too late to learn to play music,” Jim said. “Many people think they can’t learn as an adult, but they can. I did.”
Jim and Karin took their love of music from the classroom at Brandolino’s Music Center in Morris and the classroom setting in their living room to the stage after Jim retired. The two are frequent performers at The Timbers.
